Flotation Therapy

What if you could pause the hectic, stimulating world and enter a state of deep mental and physical relaxation? By giving yourself a break from the endless input of sensory experiences, you can recharge and rest your mind and prepare your body to face the world with a renewed perspective and energy. B’s Massage & Yoga now offers this possibility through the use of our Float Tank.

Float History

Floating was invented in 1954 by scientist John C. Lilly. He was testing ideas based on the elimination of external stimuli and the residual human effects. He discovered that the experience of floating was profoundly relaxing and incredibly helpful in producing profound experiences and significant physical recovery.

Why Float?

In our society and our world, a huge portion of human mental and physical “work” is devoted to dealing with the effects of stimulation to ones response system (i.e. environmental stimulation: gravity, light, sound, temperature). We intake over 4.5 million bits of information per second and process about 0.04% of that! To say the least, we are overloaded!

Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST) has been shown to reduce stress hormones, lower blood pressure, manage chronic pain and enhance mental and creative processes.

Benefits of Floating

Decreased muscle tension, heart rate and blood pressure, cortisol production and respiratory rate.

Body chemistry changes into a natural mechanism for healing and regeneration.

Harmful stress hormones are lowered, while endorphin production tends to rise.

Brainwave activity lowers to the “Dream State” and can be maintained for longer periods. This allows for further creativity
